The Iguanas of the Bahamas - Visitors to the Bahamas may be fortunate enough to observe rare rock iguanas. Rock iguanas are a group of nine species of lizard belonging to the genus Cyclura that inhabit the rugged terrains of Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, the Puerto Rican Bank, the Caymans, the Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Each species is unique to only one or a few islands and are as distinctive as the islands themselves.

An Assessment of The Role of Recreational Fishing
5/21/2009 4:05:00 PM
The Bahamas is a vast network of islands that attracts anglers from around the world seeking bonefish and permit on the flats as well as other nearshore species such as tarpon and barracuda. While the bonefish is recognized as the preeminent species targeted by anglers in The Bahamas, little is known about how recreational angling is distributed across the different islands and, therefore, how angling affects their individual economies, much less the economy of the nation as a whole.
