Spring and summer months are active times for snakes; food is abundant, it is breeding season and the warm days give them lots of energy. The Chances of encountering snakes in these months is definitely greater than at any other time of the year. Meeting a snake in The Bahamas is perfectly harmless event but unfortunately many people due to superstition and misinformation are afraid of these harmless creatures. Snakes certainly strike fear into many people around the world, however, Bahamians can consider themselves lucky as their native snakes are some of the friendliest and harmless snakes known around the world.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS (June 21, 2011) — The Ministry of The Environment of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in conjunction with the Bahamas National Trust and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD) announce a one-day conference at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort (West Bay Street, Nassau, Bahamas) on Friday, July 8, 2011.

The BNT’s Annual General Meeting and Meeting of Council were held April 7&8. At the AGM members of the BNT received an update on the annual work of the Trust, a report on the organization’s fi nances and elect the offi cers and the Council for next year.

During Spring and Summer many birds are nesting and all these baby birds go through a phase known as fledging where they are learning to fly for the first time. For most young birds this is not very successful and so they end up on the ground before they properly learn to use their newly discovered wings.
"As giant endangered sea turtles make their annual migration to the undeveloped and pristine beaches of South Abaco to nest, once again mankind has shown its ugly barbaric side by raiding two nests at Schooner Bay beach in the last 10 days"
