10/6/2011 12:50:00 AM
“Sanctuary: The Last Stand for Sharks” is a new film that portrays the underwater world of sharks and paints a global picture of the global threats they are facing. The film features the long legacy of marine protections in The Bahamas, including shark protections put in place this past summer. Globally shark populations are de-clining, but there is growing momentum to protect sharks. Many locations are recognizing that sharks are worth more alive than dead, contributing both to the economy and the stability of the marine ecosystem. The film celebrates The Bahamas role in this global movement to protect sharks from extinction, and ensure that these magnificent creatures will help keep our marine environment healthy for generations to come.
