Volunteer
Why Volunteer
The Bahamas National Trust is the only non-profit membership organization with statutory responsibility for Bahamian national parks, conservation, environmental education, and scientific research.
If you value our national park system and want to become more involved in our work there are many volunteer opportunities such as but not limited to the following:
Green Bag programme (reusable grocery bags)
Native tree propogation in Nassau and Freeport
Sea Turtle Advocacy
Discovery Club youth activities on New Providence and other islands.
Membership Development Office Projects
Special Events (Jollification, Wine & Art, etc.)
Provision of accommodations for Guest Speakers, Scientists and Council Members who attend local meetings.
We also welcome volunteers at the Exuma Cays Land & Sea Park. Volunteers assist our efforts within the park tremendously through familiarization of decision-makers, volunteering to lead a boating expedition to the Exuma park, which might create a friend for the BNT who can assist with policy advocacy, lending us a boat for use with public education and outreach in the nearby communities, or by performing administrative duties which would allow for staff to take vacation.
Environmental stewardship in our communities is very important to us. With that in mind, we welcome any useful ideas that you may have that can contribute to our development.
