New Providence Field Trips
The Retreat Gardens
The Retreat Gardens offers 11 acres of Blackland Coppice to tour as well as a unique collection of Palm trees from around the world. This tour is accompanied with a presentation that can be arranged through the education office at the Retreat Gardens, Tel: 242-393-1317. Usual total trip time is 1.5 hours.
Harrold and Wilsons Ponds
The Harrold and Wilson Ponds is 250 acres of inland wetland area. The tour includes interactive activities depending upon the age of the group on the trip. This tour is particularly good during the cooler months when the migratory birds are visiting the Bahamas. Tours can be arranged through the education office at the Retreat Gardens, Tel: 242-393-1317. Usual total trip time is 1.5 hours.
Bonefish Pond
Bonefish pond is 1280 acres of coastal wetland area. This is a snorkeling tour where teachers and students alike can see and learn about the different marine life that call Bonefish pond home. Snorkeling gear and vests are included. Tours can be arranged through the education office at the Retreat Gardens, Tel: 242-393-1317. Usual total trip time is 3 hours including travel time to the pond.
